ACT I.
I enjoyed acting during school plays, especially when I played a tipsy wench in a Chaucer play in grade 12 and we won the ‘film festival.’
I fell in love with acting many years later. When my niece, and my kids signed up as background actors. I realized how much I’d always wanted to do it and went too. They soon had enough, but I wanted more. Gema Zamprogna advised me to take classes at her dad’s acting school at Theatre Aquarius (Hamilton). Being several years older than the other students, I was terrified, but they and our amazing teacher, Christopher Brauer, made me feel welcome. I learned so much there and in several other classes I’ve been lucky to attend.
ACT II.
I began with small roles in TV shows such as Blueprint for Disaster, and Forensic Factor, and several student films. When I qualified as a member of ACTRA, I found the competition tough. But I keep learning by taking more acting classes. Background acting gives me a chance to practise, and gets me on set where I learn a lot by watching. To stay sharp I attend Improv Classes at The Staircase Theatre, which is a fabulous way to spend an evening – learning and laughing.
ACT III.
Act 3 has yet to be written.
I continue to take acting classes, and go to auditions – a knee-shaking, exhilarating experience.
Someday I hope to land more small roles in television or films. Steven Speilberg, please call me.
